River Oak Risk - Captive Insurance

Douglas J. MacGinnitie and Kimberly Bunting are pleased to announce the formation of River Oak Risk, LLC, a company that will focus on the formation and management of captive insurance companies for the middle market. MacGinnitie will serve as the new company’s Chief Executive Officer and Bunting will serve as the Chief Operations Officer.

Doug MacGinnitie, Chief Executive Officer, stated “Kim and I believe that our new business is a great opportunity to bring captive insurance solutions to the middle market. I am very excited to go into business with Kim.”

MacGinnitie has held significant leadership roles in the private, non-profit and government sectors and has extensive knowledge and experience with insurance and tax laws. Most recently, MacGinnitie served as Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Revenue from 2011 to 2015.

Prior to entering the public sector, MacGinnitie served as a Director and the Chief Operating Officer of Beecher Carlson, Inc., a top 25 commercial insurance broker. He also served as Senior Vice President, Secretary and General Counsel for Hobbs Group, LLC.

MacGinnitie is a graduate of Dartmouth College and Emory Law School.

Kim Bunting, Chief Operating Officer, expressed her excitement regarding Doug creating the Company with her, “The Company is fortunate to have such strong leadership in Doug and will benefit from his demonstrated success in both the insurance and tax fields.”

Kim Bunting has significant experience in insurance and risk management. She served as a Risk Manager at Georgia Pacific managing a risk portfolio of over $1 billion. She has been involved in the captive management and risk management consulting fields for 22 years. She has also been in-house corporate counsel and in private practice for over 25 years, advising clients and handling matters related to corporate/business transactions, risk management, and real estate matters.

Bunting holds MBA and J.D. degrees from Emory University and is a graduate of Oglethorpe University. Bunting is also a member of the ABA Captive Insurance Committee and board member of the Georgia Captive Insurance Association.
